VirtuaLens announced the launch of its Immersive IOL Simulator, a virtual reality (VR) platform that is designed to help cataract patients better understand the functional impacts of different intraocular lens (IOL) types and compare their options prior to undergoing surgery.

Specifically, the VR platform enables patients and their families to explore monofocal, multifocal, and premium lenses in realistic, lifestyle-based settings, such as nighttime driving, sports and outdoor activities, reading and computer use, as well as in their kitchens and other everyday home environments, according to a press release. The technology provides side-by-side comparisons to illustrate how different lens designs influence daily activities and visual outcomes.
