BostonSight has announced in a press release an expansion of its scleral lens portfolio with the addition of 3 new smaller-diameter options: 14.5 mm, 15.0 mm, and 15.5 mm. These sizes are available collectively in a single FitKit trial set. The kit includes lenses for both right and left eyes to support bilateral fitting during evaluation.
According to the company, all lenses in the expanded range—now from 14.5 mm to 19.0 mm—maintain consistent design features that enable practitioners to apply the same fitting philosophy and ordering process regardless of lens diameter.
Karen Carrasquillo, OD, PhD, FAAO, FSLA, FBCLA, chief innovation and education officer at BostonSight, said in the press release that the broader diameter range is also intended to support fitting across a wider patient population. She noted that the smaller diameter lenses are suited for pediatric patients, individuals with smaller corneas or apertures, and patients who may have difficulty handling larger scleral lenses.
BostonSight noted that this expansion addresses a need for which practitioners have been advocating.OM
